Hello. Yesterday, I went to my cousin’s wedding. I left my 6 week old baby at home because I didn’t want to expose him to any germs, especially because he just had stomach surgery. Before going to the wedding I asked all of my family members if any of them were sick because I wasn’t going to go if they were. They all said no. This morning my Mom called to tell me that my niece (5 years old) woke up this morning with a fever, possibly the flu. I talked to my niece a little bit but only touched her dress at one point and I didn’t hug her….however, my Mom and sister were hugging her a lot and I hugged my Mom and was around my sister a lot. The wedding was very, very cold as it was semi-outdoors. It was also very loud so everyone was standing close to each other shouting when talking. What are the chances that I will catch this virus from my niece? What are the chances that my Mom and/or sister were “carriers” of the virus and I could have caught it from them? I’m really worried about it because I don’t want my 6 week old baby to catch it! Thanks! P.S. I am breastfeeding.
